Continuous Professional Development and Community Service
Students in the M1, M2, and M3 years are required to participate in the continuous
professional development (CPD) program as outlined on the Whiddon COM Continuous Professional Development webpage. Students are required to obtain a minimum of 20 credits from approved activities
during the Fall and Spring semesters. Please refer to the Whiddon COM Service Learning webpage for further information regarding expectations and awards recognizing students who
exceed expectations.
M1 and M2 students are also required to perform community service as part of the CPD
program. M1 and M2 students must obtain a minimum of 8 CPD credits in community service
or service learning. The details of the CPD requirements will be discussed at M1 orientation
each year. It is the student’s responsibility to maintain a record of CPD activities
and credits claimed.
Failure to obtain the minimum number of credits each will result in the following:
- First occurrence: Letter of warning.
- Subsequent occurrences: Submission of a Physician Early Concern (PEC) Note.
