Quick Facts
Since 2007, Auburn University's Harrison College of Pharmacy has offered its Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program on the University of South Alabama (USA) campus in Mobile. The partnership grew out of a shared goal: easing the pharmacist shortage and improving access to health care in Alabama and across the country.
The Mobile Campus is in Building 3 of Research Park at 650 Clinic Drive, a few minutes from downtown Mobile, and admits about 24 students each fall. The Pharm.D. is the only degree offered at USA, and students can complete the entire program without leaving Mobile.
At a Glance
- On-site team: 7 pharmacy practice faculty and 3 full-time staff; many faculty also hold appointments in the USA College of Medicine
- Curriculum: Three years on campus in the Practice Ready Curriculum, followed by a fourth year of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences in an assigned region
- Classroom: In-person teaching plus live, interactive videoconferencing with faculty in Mobile and across Alabama
- Interprofessional training: Work alongside USA students in medicine, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, physician assistant studies and other health professions, including a student-run clinic, patient care activities and simulations
- Resources: Access to both the Auburn and USA library systems, study spaces, a student lounge and group work areas
Early Assurance Program (EAP)
Since 2019, the EAP has given qualified USA students conditional early admission to Auburn's Pharm.D. program. Auburn holds a seat for each admitted student, provided that student meets the program's standards as an undergraduate.

Next steps: Eligible applications are reviewed by the Harrison College of Pharmacy. Selected applicants are invited to complete an EAP application through PharmDirect (a service of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy) and to interview in March, after which admission decisions are made.
