About the Writing Lab

The Center for Academic Excellence's Writing Lab provides writing tutoring for all USA students, both face-to-face and online via Zoom. We focus on helping students improve their writing skills (rather than simply editing papers). Our staff includes both graduate and undergraduate students who are excited to help their fellow Jags become confident, successful writers. 

Services Offered

Students may receive help on any type of writing task at any stage of the writing process, including:

  • Understanding assignments and brainstorming
  • Idea development and organization
  • Integrating sources and proper citation
  • Revision strategies and grammar review
  • Style guide assistance (APA, MLA, Chicago, and other academic styles)

How to Schedule a Writing Lab Appointment

  • In-person: Visit our front desk on the second floor of the Marx Library or call us (Monday–Thursday: 9:00 am–6:00 pm | Friday: 9:00 am–4:00 pm).

Graduate Student Support & Scheduling

Graduate students are encouraged to contact the CAE directly so that our staff can match you with a writing tutor best suited to assist you with your needs and in your particular discipline. Additional appointment times may be available based on tutor availability.
